The most influential person in the new suffering-focused movement is probably David Pearce (Wikipedia link), a British philosopher who champions the abolition of suffering through biotechnology. Pearce came on the internet around 1995 with a brilliant manifesto The Hedonistic Imperative, written in a stunning 21st-century language. His Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/hedonistic.imperative, now has some 7000 members.

On July 20th, 2023, David Pearce wrote in a post on Facebook about a donated amount that looks like a game changer in the field of research on suffering.: “BLTC Research would like to express our profound thanks to long-time Hedonistic Imperative supporter James Evans for a surprise $1,000,000 donation.”
