The MCAS story is very disturbing and I included it so you as reader will take the potential problems associated with AI technology seriously.  Tesla has also had accidents where occupants have been hurt or killed. (However, many of the incidents resulted from drivers not remaining attentive and even being asleep at the wheel.)

Nevertheless, on the other side of this caution lies a vista of unimaginable promise. Tesla’s staggering recent statistics presented at Tesla in Texas—3.5 million miles driven for every single accident with Autopilot engaged—underscore the life-saving potential of AI. The same disciplined algorithms that can avert road tragedies can also inspire minds, reinvent pedagogy, and perhaps even ignite the very soul of education.

Teachers, the story is yours to conclude. The ink of innovation is within your reach; a quill made more potent by the knowledge of its dual-edged power. With each stroke, you can either perpetuate a narrative rife with reckless abandon or author an epic of conscious, humanity-affirming progress. The classroom is your African savannah; navigate it as Hemingway would—with unabating courage, yet eyes wide open to the lurking perils.

It is time to put pen to paper, to decide whether our tale is one that reeks of cautionary woe or resonates with the harmony of undiscovered realms. And as you write, let the lessons of MCAS be your sobering muse—a whispering ghost urging prudence, a clarion call that our pursuits, however noble, must be grounded in a sacred regard for the sanctity of life itself.
