Student guidelines for the work in the Biological Anthropology Laboratory
Lab Exercises
- Please do not be late!
- There will be a lecture before each lab to introduce you or remind you of materials/topics and aid you in working on and completing your labs successfully.
- Please have a ruler graded in millimeters (mm) and centimeters (cm) because if you do not have one you will be relying on your peers’ ruler, and you may not be able to finish your lab in time.
- Please know that we will be using the metric system
- Please bring a calculator (simple)
- Please do not forget gloves needed for handling human remains
- Please be advised that laboratory coats are suggested, but not required
- Please be respectful to human remains and to your peers
- Please do not bring any food or drinks in the lab
- We are to work with human hard tissue and that requires a working environment free of food and liquid
- Please use pencils/erasers instead of pens
- Your work must be legible and clean. Mistakes, if any, need to be completely erased in order for your work to be read, understood and graded.
- Please use provided pre-lined pages for your lab notes. This particular routine will help you to locate topic specific notes.
- Please have in mind that you MUST print and submit completed lab exercises to your professor at the end of that lab. If you do not submit your work, I will not be abke to grade your work and you will not get any credit for it.
- Please be aware that I will be accepting ONLY prepared and printed lab exercises provided in this workbook. I suggest that you print all of the excercises provided in this workbook at the beggining of the semester.
- Labs MUST be submitted after the end of each meeting – no exceptions!
- If you are not present during the laboratory-scheduled time, you will not be able to submit your work, which is tailored to be completed in the laboratory during the scheduled meeting time.
