Thank you for reading the first chapter of my novella, So This is Christmas.

Rex is a fictional character, but the incident with him in Chapter 2 is actually based on a true story. Many years ago, I had a dog named Chopper, half-shepherd and half-something (Malamute, perhaps). He was huge and lovable, very strong, but he didn’t know his own strength. There was an incident where he ran into the street, knocked down the neighbor lady, wolfed down her plate of spaghetti then licked her face. I can laugh about it now, but it wasn’t so funny back then when the police got involved.

The part about Rex adopting Annabelle’s kitten is also based on a true story. That one, however, came from a feature I read on the Internet. I always have at least one pet in every story because I love animals and I want my characters to love them, too. I believe every animal has its own unique personality.
