Buy Me That!
Ask students:
What’s on their wish lists for birthdays or holidays?
How did they hear about the items they want?
Did any of them see ads for those things?
If so, where did they see them?
(If you have not already delivered the lesson Can You Spot the Ad?, ask students if they know what ads are. Make sure they understand that ads try to make you want to buy or do something.)
Explain to students: Sometimes advertisements are very obvious – like on TV, when there is a break in the show you are watching and then you get a commercial for something.
Tell students that TV is one place where we see ads. Another place that we see them is when we are playing online. Like on TV, some advertisements are very obvious.
Other times it can be harder to find the ad.
