Stop-Motion Sound

Tell students that they are going to make a stop-motion film where the only sound is sound effects.

During the planning phase, have them brainstorm different sound effects that they can record themselves. Then have them pick at least three of those sound effects and use the Storyboard template to plan a story that uses those three sound effects.

Have them film the stop-motion story.

During the post-production phase, have them perform their sound effects at the appropriate times.

This can be done in groups or as a whole-class project.

When students show their videos, have them explain how they chose the sound effects and how they made them. How did starting with sound effects help them come up with an idea for the story?

If you wish, you can have them use the Reflection Recorder.
