Professional theatre is flourishing in Newfoundland and Labrador thanks to the vision, determination and creativity of Donna Butt. As co-founder and artistic director of the Rising Tide Theatre Company, she has engaged audiences with the stories of her province as showcased in the Theatre’s repertoire, the Trinity Pageant and Summer in the Bight. As a result of the outstanding success of her theatrical productions, she has contributed to the growth of cultural tourism and economic development throughout the region. This outspoken champion of the arts also advocates for increased funding of cultural organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador.
