Applied projects can take many forms. It might be an invention, a service project, or a professional report. Applied projects offer solutions to unique problems. In this way, they offer original contributions like all DHI theses. Like other types of theses, applied projects require contextualization. Students must identify and explain the problem, including its underlying causes. They must explain how others have tried to solve similar problems in the past and what questions or disputes exist in the field. Against this backdrop, students must explain and justify the choices they made in their applied project.
