Foreword – Thank you to Dr. Collin’s

After a long and vigorous effort to supply my students with free and open educational resources, I finally located a material authored by Dr. Sandra Collins, of which this book has been adapted from. I give thanks and credit to her outstanding work in the field of educational counseling and culturally and socially responsive learning activities that are included.  Though adapted from Dr. Collin’s, this book will include chemical dependency specific content through the lens of the necessary diversity and culturally inclusive counseling strategies to help serve the human services students at Yuba Community College .

I am very happy to be able to develop, deliver, design, and create a book that will be of no cost to my students, and will be a resource that is highly interactive, accessible, and current with new and emerging information and research.  This book will be iterative and ongoing, with revisions to be continually made to ensure the highest quality of information and education.

Yours in education,

Dr. Tonya Holdaway

Professor of Human Services & Psychology
