ECPK 492

ECPK 492 – Mentored Student Teaching, Toddler-K  is a 6 credit course.  The prerequisite requirements are completion of all other program requirements; minimum 2.5 GPA overall and in the Early Education and Care major; and application to the Early Education and Care professional program.

This experience requires a minimum of 8 weeks and 200 hours working directly with children in an approved program with children from toddlers through kindergarten age.  In many cases,  you can complete this program requirement in your workplace, but rarely a public-school classroom is appropriate. You will collaborate with an assigned BSU supervisor and an EEC licensed, site-based supervisor.  After getting comfortable in the setting you will increasingly take responsibility for managing the classroom, designing learning experiences and communicating with families and administrators. You will develop a performance portfolio documenting your competencies and attend 3 scheduled group meetings on the BSU campus.
