TRIO Program

The Federal TRiO Programs (TRiO) provide outreach and student services to individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities. TRiO programs aim to help students progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs. They offer tutoring, mentoring, financial literacy education, and assistance with college applications and financial aid.

Center for Academic Achievement (CFAA)

The Center for Academic Achievement (CFAA) is a one-stop shop designed to help students improve their academic success through free academic support programs. These include individual tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), and academic coaching. The CFAA assists students with developing effective study skills, time management strategies, and exam preparation techniques.

New Student & Family Programs

New Student & Family Programs support the transition to college for all students, including first-time freshmen, transfer students, adult learners, and international students. They offer orientation programs, peer mentoring, and engagement opportunities to help students adjust to college life and build a sense of belonging. Their goal is to enhance students’ academic success and personal growth through campus resources and community connections.

First-Year Experience Programs

These programs are designed to help first-year students successfully transition to college by providing academic skills development, social integration, and access to campus resources. Programs may include first-year seminars, peer mentorship, and learning communities that encourage student engagement and academic achievement.

Counseling and Mental Health Services

Counseling and Mental Health Services support students struggling with anxiety, stress, homesickness, identity-related stress, or other mental health concerns. They offer individual and group counseling, workshops on stress management, and crisis intervention services. Their mission is to promote emotional well-being and personal growth for all students.

Student Organizations & Campus Life

ETSU offers a vibrant student life experience with a variety of student organizations and leadership opportunities. Students can participate in clubs, cultural groups, service organizations, and student government. These activities promote social connections, leadership development, and community engagement, fostering a sense of belonging and school spirit.

Mary V. Jordan Center

The reimagined Mary V. Jordan Center will offer services and resources to help all Buccaneers become confident, engaged, and resourceful students who are prepared for lifelong success. The Jordan Center will be housed on the second floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center and serve as a hub connecting students to integrated and comprehensive support services 

Named for Ms. Mary V. Jordan, — a longtime counselor, mentor, and administrative leader at the university — the Jordan Center will exemplify the values of its namesake, ensuring that ETSU is a place where people come first, are treated with dignity and respect, and given equal opportunity to thrive.

Dr. Patricia Robertson Pride Center

The Dr. Patricia Robertson Center will launch in 2025 and focus on supporting students’ holistic wellbeing. Named for Dr. Patricia Robertson, a former staff member and advocate for the LGBTQ community, the Robertson Center will offer affirming and educational programming designed to help students develop and embrace their individual identities while cultivating community connections and thriving within all nine dimensions of wellbeing.

Disability Services

Disability Services offers accommodations and assistance to qualifying students to promote an accessible and inclusive campus environment. They provide services such as note-taking assistance, alternative testing arrangements, and assistive technology. The office advocates for students’ rights and works with faculty to ensure equitable access to educational opportunities.

Archives of Appalachia

The Archives of Appalachia is a repository for historical documents, photographs, audio recordings, and other materials that document life in Southern Appalachia. The Archives provide students with access to primary sources for research and learning about the region’s cultural heritage. They also offer programming and events to celebrate and explore Appalachian history and identity.

Military and Veteran Services

ETSU is a Military-Friendly University offering financial resources, educational benefits, and transition support to military-affiliated students and their families. The office provides guidance on using military benefits, academic advising tailored to veterans, and community-building opportunities through veteran student organizations. They also advocate for the unique needs of military and veteran students on campus.
