Global Climate Change

Earth’s climate is responsible for maintaining all life. In the past two centuries, human activities have played a significant role in warming the climate. Global surface temperatures have increased at an alarming rate, especially in the last decade, during which some of the hottest temperatures in history have been recorded. With this, a consequential rise in ocean levels has occurred. Human interaction and industrial developments are largely responsible for the increase in global temperatures and impact on the environment.

In the 21st century, humanity has begun to notice the negative impacts of climate change and explore solutions. New sources of renewable energy and breakthrough technological processes, such as geoengineering, have provided potential solutions to aid the fight against the rising temperatures. While engineers and scientists are working to combat climate change, there are other initiatives to forge new opportunities. In junction with NASA, a private space company called SpaceX is well on its way to allowing humans to colonize Mars.
