Oil fields were in nearby areas to the William Brunken farm at Lahoma, Oklahoma early in the 20th century.

Oil storage tanks with people on steps between the tanks.  Even when the photograph is magnified, the people are not identifiable.

This photograph is possibly of a visit to an oil pipeline construction site.  There are oil wells in the distance – if you look hard.
