Chapter five
Then after retrieving the hidden stars from her room that had been obviously trashed while looking for the so called stars, we made our way towards the address. Robert offered to drive us to our destination. Val sat in the front passenger seat while Mia and I took up the back seats. She was more composed now and looked determined to get this behind her. I held her hand and gave it a small squeeze of re-assurance. She turned and looked at me and gave me a small smile. This guilt was going to kill me., I thought as she turned to gaze at the trees passing us. The sky was darkening by the hour and when I looked closely, I noticed that we were in a neighborhood I knew because I grew up here.
“Robert what is the address again?” I asked. He glanced at me briefly before averting his eyes back on the road and recited off our address. I guess they stayed home then, this sort of eased my gnawing bad feeling I had. “That is our house.” I said curtly and from the front seat the butler and Val both nodded their heads acknowledging the new information. Pulling up in our driveway, we noticed a parked SUV that was not there before. It must have belonged to those kids. When I opened the door, we heard noises from the main sitting area where they must have been at that moment.
“Girls can you stay a few feet away from us, I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you. I said to my sister and gave her a comforting hug before doing the same to Mia. I had gotten them into this and we were going to end it no questions asked.
Nodding to Robert, we moved forward towards the sitting room but what we say left us froze on the spot where we had been standing. What? How? What was going on here? Was what was going on in my head as I looked on at the scene in front of me. The girls came and glanced in front of them and I heard Mia let out a sigh of relief when she caught sight on her father perfectly fine and clearly playing video games on our Xbox. Here we were worried sick and they were playing video games. Stanley let out a whoop of victory but immediately stopped when he noticed us. He cleared his throat and nudged Whitney who was besides him; they then turned to look at us. Mia’s father stood up and faced us, clearly pouting coz he had lost that stupid game they had been playing and moved towards us. Mia pushed past me and ran towards her father and gave him a big hug.
“I thought you were hurt.” Mia said letting him go just to hug him again.
“am alright kiddo. Just lost to those four fake aliens.” He said glancing at the four who were back to looking on at the drama unfolding. I saw Darcy roll her eyes and I let out a sigh, she was such a character.
A girl would probably aww at this moment of family reunion, wait my sister already was. I turned and glared at her making her shut up immediately. Turns out after the rogue teens threatened him, Elroy threatened them with something even greater forcing them to give up their threats but he decided to let them have whatever they wanted since they were like his children and all that old people stuff. So after getting what they wanted, they apologized for what they put us through and before 9pm, everyone was heading out of our house. The rouge teens where going to stay at the Elroy’s house before they would move out to continue their journey. Maybe we didn’t actually misjudge them since desperate times call for desperate measures. Turns out the mutation in their blood required some sort of anti-virus to reduce its effect on immensely affecting the host but since they had left the facility they had run out and thought that maybe kidnapping the creator would guarantee them a free pass to the medication. It did but their antics were uncalled for. That night they left after promising to come around some time in the near future. Val was awed about this entire discovery and was devising ways on creating a super being on her own. Mia was not too scarred after all this. Whitney was the one among they that voiced her apologies but the rest just nodded. That night we had the first sleepover since we went to high school and spent the night talking about what happened to us that day. This was a memory worth remembering and a secret worth keeping.
