SOP Challenge

This page offers additional support for the SOP Challenge, which is due on October 27. Based on your effort to meet all the requirements, it will be graded as complete or incomplete. The activity is worth 2 points.

What to Do

I don’t have a lot of additional support…because you need to prompt the AI and then follow what it says for the routine. Make changes to your SOP as needed to enhance the procedure for success.

Step 1: Embrace the AI Assistant

Think of the AI as your brainstorming buddy. You’re not offloading the entire task, but rather using it to spark ideas and provide a structure you can then personalize.

Step 2: Craft Your Prompt

  • Be Specific: Instead of just asking for a “routine,” tell the AI what kind you want. For example: “Create a morning routine for a busy college student who wants to improve their focus.”
  • Consider Your Goals: What do you want to achieve with this routine? More productivity? Better sleep? Improved mental health? Include these goals in your prompt.

Step 3: Test Drive the Routine

  • Commit for 3 Days: This is your experiment phase. Follow the AI-generated routine as closely as possible for three days.
  • Document Your Experience: Keep a journal or notes on your phone. How did each step feel? Did you make any adjustments? What worked well, and what didn’t?

Step 4: Refine and Personalize

  • Analyze Your Notes: Look for patterns in your feedback. Were there steps you consistently skipped? Did certain parts of the routine make a noticeable difference?
  • Make it Yours: Tweak the routine based on your experience. Add, remove, or modify steps to create something that truly fits your life and goals.

Step 5: Craft Your SOP

  • Clarity is Key: Write your final SOP in clear, concise language. Someone else should be able to follow it easily.
  • Include Visuals: Consider adding a photo or creating a simple infographic to make your SOP more engaging.

Step 6: Reflect and Share

  • Write Your Memo: Think about your experience with the AI, the process of creating and refining your routine, and what you learned about productivity.
  • Share Your Success: If you’re comfortable, consider sharing your SOP or a summary of your experience on social media or with your classmates.

*Task content generated using Google Gemini Pro with a Gem trained to “act as a technical writer mentoring students in an introductory course. Every prompt should relate to STEM, medical, and business fields.” The Gem was prompted: Write a how-to guide that helps students complete this assignment. Break it down into potential steps they can complete for when they get stuck. Provide helpful tips and encouragement. The tone should be patient and supportive.” 10/1/2024
