Summary
This topic examines the main theoretical challenges in the study of volunteering and presents a perspective on volunteering through the lens of studying everyday practices in Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression since 2014. The module focuses on a less studied part of volunteering – the everyday practices of volunteering and its processual nature, and it briefly outlines the possibilities and limitations of studying volunteering in general.

Oksana Mikheieva is a Professor of Sociology at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. She serves as a DAAD Visiting Professor at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Mikheieva’s research areas include urban sociology and qualitative research methods. She is a member of the International Association for the Humanities and the Ukrainian Sociological Association.
