306 James Comey Still Won’t Apologize but He did Write a Pretty Good Book
Not to break character of letting the shocking headlines do the talking but note this headline sanitizes the extent to which a US Senator was manhandled. As terrible as what Kirst Noem’s goons did-interestingly Corey Lewandowski(?!) later demanded Padilla’s release from custody. The bad reporting piggybacks off the gestapo actions of Trump’s Gestapo

Serious concerns over Texas’s strict abortion laws? Do tell. I mean I assume when there are all these stories of people moving from California to Texas these people never consider what it might mean to raise daughters in such a misogynistic place.
But let’s talk about James Comey.
There’s an old saying-if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. Apparently based onf all the things I’ve said about James Comey in this book I don’t subscribe to that particular principle. And this is for good reason-every single day there are more horrible headlines on how Trump is turning us into authoritarian dystopian hellscape. The headlines above being just a few recent such headlines-during the Trump 2.0 Years there are headlines like this literally every single day.
However in this chapter I do have a few nice things to say about Comey.
1. He’s a wife guy
2. His latest book FDR Drive is excellent in my opinion-I’m enjoying it greatly in fact. This is in marked contrast to his nonfiction book about himself he wrote back in 2017. Apparently he’s found his drama-fiction, specifically a fiction legal drama.
In my view-all of this is by definition my own view what else would it be? But In my humble opinion calling a wife guy is a compliment-or for me to call him such is a compliment-you can imagine others who would not consider that a compliment-probably many of them are on the manosphere and voted for Trump 2024…
In all seriousness it’s pretty moving how much he loves and admires his wife-as well for that matter his daughters. Apparently FDR’s protagnonist Nora Carleton is based on Comey’s daughter who herself became a prosecutor-not just any prosecutor but the U.S. Attorney for SDNY
I mean-what do you want me to say I find him more sympathetic in seeing how much he seems to love and admire the women in his life-but then again I’m pretty much a female supremacist. Seriously I’m the kind of guy who watches videos like this for fun. Wish I was kidding

I actually learned of Comey’s FDR Drive on The Bulwark. As is usually the case with a Comey media appearance when I watched it I was once again appalled by his self delusion, his moral grandstanding and preening, his refusal to admit the truth least of all to himself that this is all on him-those headlines to start this chapter are all on him. But instead he pretends to be the righteous one. As he did in this interview claiming that because both Trump and Clinton voters hate him and curse him out that somehow shows he occupies some moral high ground.
.But this is Comey’s preferred brand the narrative of himself he wants us to believe-that he’s nonpartisan, independent etc. Of course that’s what everyone at Trumpland Kash Patel’s FBI the FBI would have you believe-as we saw in Chapter Weinergate even the Clinton hating agents who threatened to leak the emails on Weiner’s laptop-aka Huma Abedin’s emails-to Julian Assange professed that they were agents “who don’t see things in a partisan way.”
Indeed for this very reason though Comey’s FDR Drive is fascinating on multiple levels-including as we’ll discuss the fact that Comey’s fictional version of this world he’s so familiar with is strikingly WOKE-it’s a world run largely by women with Black women and even trans women playing an important role an on suggestion that we are in Donald Trump’s America 2.0-complements of Comey’s letter-where being trans is itself suspect-Trump/Hegseth have now banned trans people from the armed services en masse.
But if Democrats like many of us still hate Comey he makes no attempt in this interview to even hazard a guess why. It’s very notable as while he tries to drive a false equivalence between Republicans who hate him and Democrats who hate him.
The big difference being we Democrats have a very good reason, he elected Trump-while Trump and his GOP co-conspirators are just ungrateful. Just underscores why you should never capitulate to these fascists-as the media organizations and legal firms who have capitulated to Trump have discovered.
