Discussion

The 16 year old Anna Frier next to the bottom of the passenger list appears to be an add-on.  Possibly her name was not recorded initially and to correct the list, her name was added before listing the ship surgeon. She is from Weimar and is travelling to Buffalo like the Trier family at the top of the list. I speculate that she was with the younger passengers such as Julius Kirmse and it was initially assumed that she was counted with her family.  Then when the head count did not work out, someone realized the error and added Anna’s name to the passenger list.

The surname of the family at the top of the list appears to be Trier – look at the first letter of the name and it is a script uppercase T, but if it had a little mark at the middle of the letter, so it would be a capital F.  The maiden name of Ann Frier next to the bottom of the passenger list definitely is spelled with an upper Case F, as it has a little mark at the middle of the letter.  So what is the surname of the family, Frier or Trier? I believe that the family surname is Frier.

Rustic means relating to or of the countryside.
