PASCAL is the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries, a consortium of South Carolina’s academic libraries together with their parent institutions and state agency partners. PASCAL fosters cooperation on a broad range of issues including shared licensing of electronic resources, universal borrowing, shared systems support, and affordable learning. In 2017, PASCAL launched South Carolina Affordable Learning (SCALE), a statewide initiative that seeks to reduce the overall cost of higher education for students by promoting the use of quality low-cost, and no-cost learning materials. SCALE programs have included the Professors for Affordable Learning award, webinars and workshops for librarians and faculty throughout South Carolina, and the SCALE Affordable Learning Grant Program.
