I wrote this textbook during a sabbatical that Palomar College provided to me in the spring of 2023.  The sabbatical allowed me to take one semester of leave from my usual job as the Instruction Coordinator for the library.  Because of the support of Palomar College and my colleagues in the library, this textbook is free to students.

This textbook is designed to be read online and I have included links in the text.  If you choose to read a printed version of this textbook, I have noted at which points you should go online to access the linked materials.
