Weeks later, Ethan received an envelope. Inside was a blue certificate and a gold pin.

“Congratulations! You are the 2026 National Ocean Youth Scholar.”

Tears welled in his eyes. He ran to his father, showing him the certificate.

Thomas stared at it silently, then surprised Ethan by pulling out an old, yellowed scrapbook.

“I had dreams too,” he said softly, showing young photos of him exploring tide pools. “Life took me elsewhere. But yours… yours is just beginning.”
