How to use this textbook

This textbook has been designed with activities to support Spanish learners in high school although it could also be used for older students as well.

We suggest using this textbook:

  • Chapter by chapter: Each chapter has been design to build upon the knowledge, thinking and reflections from the previous chapter
  • In English or in Spanish: Each chapter has a version in English or in Spanish. Some resources are in Spanish only; however, teachers might like to translate or set students a task of translating
  • To engage students in extended writing and/or discussion There are many discussion questions which students could use to talk about topics in Spanish (or English to extend their cultural knowledge).
  • To showcase a variety of speakers of Spanish to students!
  • To provide students with role models of teachers who speak Spanish  – in particular, we recommend looking at the Pura Vida novel and study guide at the end of the textbook for an example of the early days of the language learning journey from the perspective of an Australian teacher of Spanish.
