Language patterns

A. Mary cvhocefkvt os means “Mary my-name is”. Hocefkv is the word for ‘name’:

  • hocefkv ‘name’
    • cvhocefkv ‘my name’
    • cehocefkv your name’

B. Os means ‘is’ or ‘does’. In a question with a question word, it changes to owa?

    • Bill cvhocefkvt os. ‘My name is Bill’ / Naket cehocefkvt owa? ‘What is your name?’
    • Norman vtvyēt os. ‘I come from Norman.’ / ‘Stvmin vtetskēt owa? ‘Where do you come from?’

A short way to say owa is : Naket cehocefkv ? What is your name?

C. The verb vtetv means ‘to come (from)’ when you’re talking about one person.

    • vtetv  ‘(one) to come (from)’
      • vtvyēt os ‘I come (from)’
      • vtetskēt os ‘you come (from)’
        • ‘Stvmin vtetskēt owa? ‘Where do you come from?’
      • vtēt oshe/she/it comes (from)’ (There’s no mark for ‘he/she/it’.)
