Ask students:
- Did they identify the same points in the video where there were sound?
- How similar were their sound effects to the ones in the video?
- Which sounds do they think were recorded live (if any) and which ones do they think were recorded by a foley artist (if any)?
- What evidence do they have for each?
- (All of the sound effects were added in post-production.)
- What evidence do they have for each?
- Why do you think many movies and TV shows still use professional Foley artists?
- What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of recording custom sound effects for a movie or TV show instead of using pre-recorded ones?
- Can you think of any genres of movies or TV shows where sound effects might be especially important?
