A&B - NumberTheory

Introduction

Use these assembled OER to see if you can master the CXC CSEC Specific Objectives for Number Theory

Specific Objectives:

Specific Objective 1

The CSEC Mathematics, Number Theory curriculum has a specific objective (#1) that students should be able to…

‘distinguish among sets of numbers; Set of numbers: natural numbers {1, 2, 3, …}, whole numbers {0, 1, 2, 3, …}, integers {…-2, -1, 0, 1, 2, …}, rational numbers (qp:p and q are integers, q ≠ 0), irrational numbers (numbers that cannot be expressed as terminating or recurring decimals, for example, numbers such as π and √2), the real numbers (the union of rational and irrational numbers); sequences of numbers that have a recognisable pattern; factors and multiples; square numbers; even numbers; odd numbers; prime numbers; composite numbers’.

In this module we have compiled a number of Open Education Resources (OER) to help you achieve this objective.

Specific Objective 2

The CSEC Mathematics, Number Theory curriculum has a specific objective (#2) that students should be able to…

‘order a set of real numbers’.

In this module we have compiled a number of Open Education Resources (OER) to help you achieve this objective.

Specific Objective 3

The CSEC Mathematics, Number Theory curriculum has a specific objective (#3) that students should be able to…

‘generate a term of a sequence given a rule; Sequences of numbers that have a recognisable pattern’.

In this module we have compiled a number of Open Education Resources (OER) to help you achieve this objective.
