Backstory

A backstory to our visit to Nebraska in November of 1941 is: The Studebaker dealer made an attractive offer to my father on a new car to clear inventory and make room for the next year models. Dad purchased the car and thus we had a new vehicle to travel to Nebraska. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor the week after we got back home and civilian production was converted to support the war effort – the dealer never received 1942 model cars. We did have a reliable car for the war years, but with the rationing of fuel, tires, etc, our family was not able to make another trip to Nebraska.
