BRUNKEN — Emil Brunken, 82, of 2410 Eighth Street, died this morning in Behlen Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Gass-Haney Funeral Home.

BRUNKEN — Prayer service at 1:45 p.m. Monday will precede the 2 p.m. funeral rites for Emil Brunken, 82, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. M.W. Goldhammer and Rev. B. F. Meschke.
The body will lie in state at Gass-Haney Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday; 1-2 p.m. at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.A retired farmer and carpenter who lived at 2410 8th Street, Mr. Brunken died Friday at Behlen Community Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1891 in Platte County to John D. and Johanna Plath Brunken. Educated in rural and parochial schools, he married Martha Schreiber Feb. 20, 1924, at St. John Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. They resided in Platte County until 1932; then at Central City for several years; at David City from 1938 to 1952, when they moved to Columbus.
Surviving are his wife; son, Wallace of Columbus; daughter, Mrs. Arvin (Loretta) Riveland of Lincoln; grandchildren. Brenda and Karen Brunken, Marc, Eric and Briwn Riveland; two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Louise) Karlin and Mrs. Anna Hoesch of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, John, William, Gustav, Henry, Carl, Otto, Edward; one sister, Fredricka; also a sister and brother in infancy. Mr. Brunken was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the family suggests memorials to the Immanuel Building Fund.
