Funeral rites set Friday afternoon for Carl H. Brunken
Funeral services for Carl H. (Charlie) Brunken, 85, of 1851 22nd Avenue, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
Pastor A. H. Guettler will officiate, and he will also conduct a family prayer service at 11 a.m. Friday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home. The body will lie In state at the funeral chapel from 1 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday, then from 1 to 2 p.m. at church, Casket will not be opened after the church service.
Mr. Brunken, a retired farmer, died Tuesday morning in Behten Memorial Hospital after an illness of three months.
He was born Oct. 9, 1884 at Columbus to John and Johanna Plath Brunken, and attended District 35 SchooL On April 14, 1915 be married Etta W. Weyen at Monroe. They observe their golden anniversary five years ago.
The Brunkens farmed in Shell Creek Township, then west of Columbus until retiring to town.
Baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Boesch and Mrs. Herman (Louise) Karlin, both of Columbus; two brothers, Emil H. of Columbus and Edward W. of Knoxville, Iowa.
In addition to his parents, be was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister, William of Enid, Okla.; Henry of Venice, Calif.; Louis, Gus. Otto and Mrs. John (Mary) Witt, of Columbus.

BRUNKEN–Brunken Rites – Funeral rites for Carl H. (Charlie) Brunken, 85, who died Tuesday, were conducted Friday afternoon by Pastor A.H. Guettler at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pallbearers were Wallace, Carroll and Leonard Brunken, Gerald Karlin, Herman and David Mohr. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
