Mrs. John Witt dies Saturday, funeral Tuesday
Mrs. John (Mary) Witt died Saturday at Genoa hospital.
Last rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Federated church in Columbus, with the Rev. Russell Croker officiating, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The body lies in state until noon Tuesday at Gass Funeral Home, then at the church from 1 p.m. to the time of service.
She was born July 16, 1876, in Passaic, N.J., the daughter of John, and Johanna Plath Brunken, and was educated in Platte county schools. She was married to John Witt Oct. 20, 1893.
Mrs. Witt. had resided in Scribner, Leigh, Potter and Columbus. She was a member of the Federated church and circles, and was affiliated with the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include six children; Mrs. Clara Muir of Fremont, George Will of San Fernando, Calif., Mrs. Jacob (Anna) Glur of Columbus, Harry Witt of Long Beach, Calif., Leroy of Bonners Ferry, Ida., and Clifford of Planda, Calif.; 25 grandchildren including Mrs. Merle (Carolyn) Johnson and Margaret Glur of Columbus, and 39 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Anna Roesch and Mrs. Herman (Louise) Karlin of Columbus; and three brothers, Carl (Charlie) Brunken and Emil of Columbus, Edward of Knoxville, Ia.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959, a son, Melvin, in 1953, and five brothers.
