Funeral services for Gustav Brunken, 86, of Lincoln will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church, 12th and H streets in Lincoln. Rev. Paul E. Krohn will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery.
A native of Platte County (Nebraska), and a retired farmer, Mr. Brunken died today (Sept 14) in a Lincoln nursing home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1880, near Columbus and spent his early years in Platte county, moving to Oklahoma as a young man. Mr. Brunken married Ida Schlosser April 30, 1913, in Oklahoma. They lived there until 1925 when they came back to Columbus. They moved to Lincoln in 1945. He worked as a custodian for Trinity Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Raymond of Kingston, N.Y., Edwin (Lucille) of Rochester, Ill.; daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Irene) Briggs, Fremont, Mrs. Sam (Adeline) Mallet Downey, Cal., Miss Fern Brunken, Mountain View, Cal., Miss Ruth Brunken of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl and Emil of Columbus, Edward of Knoxville, Iowa; sisters, Mrs. Mary Witt of Omaha, Mrs. Anna Roach and Mrs. Herman Karlin, both of Omaha. Preceding him were his parents and brothers Louis, William, Henry and Otto.
Memorials may be sent to the Lutheran hour. Roper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
