Martha Brunken
Martha (Mrs. Emil) Brunken, 85, of Columbus, died Sunday, March 26, 1989, at a Lincoln hospital.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday with a 1:45 p.m family prayer service at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. H.M. Rathkamp officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Brunken was born July 10, 1903, in Platte County, the daughter of William and Fredericke (Henning) Schreiber. She attended District 44 and Columbus High School. She married Emil H. Brunken Feb. 20, 1924, at St. John’s Church, Shell Creek. They farmed in Platte County until 1932, Merrick County for six years, then moved to David City and returned to Columbus in 1952. Mrs. Brunken was a seamstress at Jackson Cleaners and other local retail stores. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one son, Wallace of Columbus; one daughter, Loretta (Mrs. Arvin) Riveland of Lincoln; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, seven brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Memorial fund or Multiple Scleroris Fund.
