Joachim Johann Heinrich “Henry” Lohmann
Joachim Johann Heinrich Lohmann was the first child of Peter Christopher Lohmann and Margaretha Versemann. When Heinrich “Henry” was born on August 15, 1883, near Farrar, Missouri, his father, Peter, was 22 and his mother, Margaretha, was 21. Henry grew up on a farm at Farrar and attended the Lutheran school there. He was confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church at Farrar. Henry worked on the railroads around Perry County, Missouri in his late teens. When he was in his early 20’s he moved to the Oklahoma Territory and started farming while he lived in a dugout for a number of years.[1]
Henry’s Parents: Peter and Margaretha (Versemann) Lohmann
Peter Christopher Lohmann was born May 16, 1861, at Scheeßel, Germany and died on October 13, 1934 at Alva, Oklahoma. Peter came to America at an early age and settled around Farrar, Missouri. There he married Margaretha Versemann on June 17, 1882. She was born in Osterveseds, Province of Prussia Germany on November 14, 1861, she died on November 18, 1933 at Alva, Oklahoma. Her parents were Johann Versemann, born September 29, 1826, and Marie (Brockmann) Versemann. Margaretha came to America with her parents in 1868 and they landed at Wittenberg, Missouri, after coming up the Mississippi River on a riverboat. They settled on a farm near Farrar, Missouri.
Peter and Margaretha Lohmann had nine children: Johann Heinrich “Henry” Lohmann (1883-1957); Johann Friedrich Lohmann (1885-1887); Joachim Friedrich Lohmann (1887-1955); Maria Katherine Lohmann (1890-1978}; Martin Lohmann (1892-1963); Martha Anna Hedwig Lohmann (1895-1982); Joachim Peter Lohmann (1897-1957); Theodore Gottlieb Lohmann (1899-1983); Ida Maria Lena Lohmann(1902-1937).
They raised their family on a farm near Farrar, Missouri. Around 1910 – 1912 they moved to near Goodwin, Oklahoma where their eldest son, “Henry” Lohmann, was living. After living there several years they moved to southeast of Alva. Here their five sons also had farms. Peter Lohmann drove his horse and buggy visiting his five sons.
Peter and Margaretha Lohmann were life-long members of the Lutheran Church. They continued to live on their farm southeast of Alva, until their deaths.[1]
Marie Christina Cordes
Marie Christina Cordes was the youngest child born to Heinrich and Margaretha (Meier) Cordes. When Marie was born on September 22, 1881, in Farrar, Missouri, her father, Heinrich, was 32 and her mother, Margaretha, was 34.

Marie was the younger sister of Martha Margaretha Cordes and their parents were introduced in Chapter: Martha Margaretha Cordes.
Heinrich “Henry” Lohmann and Marie Cordes Marriage
In 1906, Henry Lohmann returned from the Oklahoma Territory to Farrar to marry Marie Cordes.

Marriage Documents
Moved to Oklahoma
After their marriage, Henry and Marie (Cordes) Lohmann moved to the Oklahoma Territory to live on the farm which Henry was homesteading. Their farm was in an adjoining section south of the William and Martha (Cordes) Kirmse homestead near Goodwin, Oklahoma Territory.
