- The woman and boy on the back row are thought to be relatives. The woman seems to be posed as if familiar with William Kirmse – She could be William’s oldest sister, “Mary” (Kirmse) Doernhoefer – her facial features are similar to other portraits of Mary.
- The boy could be the son of Mary Doernhoefer, Edward Julius Doernhoefer, who was born 31 May 1896 and would have been about 14 years old in this picture – His facial features are similar to other portraits of Edward.
