Chapter 4: Plate Tectonics
In this assignment, we will investigate dynamics in the earth’s crust that explain various complex geologic phenomena. Next we will discover how global mountain ranges are formed related to tectonic plate motions.
Outcomes and Objectives
Analyze the physical processes that shape the patterns of Earth’s surface.
- Objective 4.4: Compare the internal and external structures of Earth that determine the planet’s various landforms.
Compare the characteristics and spatial distribution of lithospheric systems (i.e., plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, weathering, mass movement, river systems, and landforms).
- Objective 5.1: Compare and contrast the different scientific theories that help society understand the planet’s complex, geologic forces.
- Objective 5.2: Differentiate between the various layers of the earth.
- Objective 5.3: Compare the various tectonic plate boundaries and the geologic hazards they create.
