Territorial Acknowledgements
I acknowledge that the learning I have take part in takes place partly on the traditional unceded territory of the Lekwungen speaking peoples, which includes the Songhees, W̱SÁNEĆ, and Esquimalt Nations.
I acknowledge and give thanks for the land on which I live, work, and play, and to the people who have cared for it. The land I am on is the unceded, ancestral territory of fourteen First Nations representing the Dakelh, Nedut’en and Wet’suwet’en peoples. Being able to give thanks to the stewards of the land who came before and being able to reflect on their contributions to our community is an honour.
I commit that I will leave the land the same or better than I encountered it so that the people who come after me can appreciate it as I have.
With a spirit of reconciliation, I commit to learning more about the Indigenous communities and to share those learnings with my students and the people in my life.
