God.

We sit at the transition from one year to the next.

Part of us hopes that things will be different.
Part of us knows that things never are.
Part of us hopes that we will be different.
Part of us fears that we never will be.
Part of us knows that you are all-powerful,
all-knowing, all-present.
Part of us isn’t at all sure that applies to our lives,
our problems, our cares.
Part of us wants to know the peace you promise,
a peace that we can’t even understand.
Part of us is anxious that it won’t be there, and then we will be stuck.

Jesus, you’ve heard this before.

You heard a man say “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
You heard followers say, “You are the Christ. Where else would we go?” and then they went.

You have heard it all. And you stick around.

God Almighty, Lord of heaven and earth,
Spirit of the Living God,
Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer

Help me, help us, in this transition from one year to the next, to bring our parts together in your power and presence.
Bring healing to our hearts, to our bodies, to our relationships with each other and you.
Restore unto us the joy of our salvation.
Renew us by the power of your Spirit.

Amen.
