Below are a few of the artifacts that students in Shaheen’s class at ISU created to synthesize what they learned in this unit.

Katen Filipatos (2022) Artifact

A landscape-oriented digital drawing. In the middle of the canvas is a post with 6 signs: 3pointing left, and 3 pointing right. The direction that each sign is pointing in switches,left-right-left. From top to bottom, the signs read “Disabled”, “Handicapped”, “Neurodivergent”,“Mentally Challenged”, “My Community”, and “Your Society”. The words “My” and “Your” arespray-painted red on the last two signs. In the foreground, there are two paths that diverge at thesigns. To the left is a young woman with dark brown skin, dark fluffy hair, and a muted-red shirt. She is walking toward the left while using forearm crutches with a smile on her face. On theright side, there is a young man with light pale skin, brown hair, and a green shirt. He is standingin place and facing to the left with his right hand cupped to yell “You’re going the wrong way!”.The left side of the background has light blue skies and fluffy white clouds, and the right sidegrows less saturated with a grey-blue sky and gray clouds
