Profile
The Profile section of Common App asks for information about you that will be shared with the colleges and universities where you apply. Completing the Profile section of My Common Application should take approximately 15 minutes.
Items in Common App marked with a red asterisk * are required. You are not required to complete items that do not have the red asterisk.
Introduction
In the Profile section, you will add the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Demographics
- Language(s) Spoken
- Nationality
- Fee waiver qualifications

In this video, you will indicate if you qualify for a Fee Waiver and understand how to obtain one. This video is approximately 2 minutes.
Tips & Reminders
- To complete the Profile section, you will need to provide additional information regarding your name, phone number, email address, and home address that were not included when you created your Common App account. You will also need to know your nationality and citizenship.
- If you are applying for federal financial aid, you will need to enter your Social Security number.
- Fee waivers for Common App are available for students who have financial need. Students who apply for a fee waiver must indicate their choice by checking the box in this section.
- If you have additional questions, Common App Solutions Center has information for applicants, counselors, and recommenders.
A fee waiver lets you apply to college without paying an application fee. Common App contains a section where students who qualify for a fee waiver may check a box indicating that they qualify for a fee waiver.
