Clinical Pathology

The values listed in the following sections are for reference only. If you laboratory has normal ranges for pet pigs listed, those should be utilized. There is some variation between different breeds of pigs, in general white pigs have slightly lower values than black pigs. The Pot Bellied Pig Manual[1] also has reference values listed for potbellied pigs that is broken down by age and sex of the pig, these values were found to be overall very similar to the values listed in the following sections. For purposes of simplicity and readability these tables were not included but can be found through the listed link on VIN. All of the values listed in the following sections are for commercial swine and from the Iowa State University laboratory.[2]
