The bulk of this book consists of the law enforcement manual developed in the 1970s, which is still one of the finest works regarding the investigation of white collar crime available.

In the academic edition, some of the language, spelling, and examples have been updated. Also chapter front matter, such as objectives, modern case studies, and the addendum examples of white collar crime cases have been added to provide a more traditional textbook look and feel, as well as an academic, rather than vocational, approach to the content.

Activities are included at the end of chapters in the form of FBI case studies that are edited for student use in classroom discussion and written assignments.
