EPL OPTIONS COUNSELING

Use a person-centered and shared decision-making approach to counseling: elicit treatment priorities through discussion and/or use of a tool such as the Worksheet below. Next, review all management options, including advantages, disadvantages, and outcomes, as discussed in the Comparison Table above. Together, clinicians and those experiencing EPL can agree on a management decision that is person-centered and honors their preferences and values.

Once a management method has been chosen, formulate a treatment and follow-up plan. For expectant, medication (with mifepristone / misoprostol), or procedural management, follow  guidance such as outlined in the sample Clinical Protocol on the next page.
