Where are countries with the highest and lowest populations over age 64?

Step 1: Go to the ArcGIS Online map, Standards of Living, and explore the map.

Step 2: With the Details button underlined, click the button, Show Contents.

Step 3: Click the layer name, SOL-Population 65 Years Or Older/Percent. Click the Show Table button. (Note: SOL stands for standard of living.)

Step 4: In the table, click the field header, Pct Over 64. Choose Sort Ascending.

Step 5: Scroll down past -99 and highlight the next 30 rows in the table (low population over 64).

  • Where are the countries located that has the lowest percentage of the population living to 65 years or older?

Step 6: Highlight the last 30 rows in the table.

  • Where are the countries located that has the highest percentage of the population living to 65 years or older?

Where are the countries with the highest and lowest infant mortality rates?

Step 7: Close the open table.

Step 8: Turn on the layer, SOL-Infant Mortality/Deaths. Turn off the other SOL layers.

Step 9: Open the SOL-Infant Mortality/Deaths layer table – sort descending on the Infant Mortality Total field.

  • Which countries have the highest infant mortality rates?
  • Which countries have the lowest infant mortality rates?

Where are the countries with the highest and lowest GDP per capita?

Step 10: Close the open table and turn off all of the SOL layers.

Step 11: Explore the two layers, SOL – GDP Per Capita and Workforce in Services %.

  • Which countries have the lowest GDP per capita?
  • What are the highest GDP countries?
