Where do you live?

I. Domicilio

Gramática

vivir = to live

(yo)    vivo      I live

(tú)     vives       you live (informal)

(él/ella)   viv    he/she lives

(usted)    vive     you live (formal)

(nosotros)  vivimos   we live

(vosotros)  vivís  you all live (informal)

(ellos/ellas)   viven  they live

(ustedes) viven  you all live (formal)

Any time you come across a verb where the infinitive ends in -ir, the verb will be put together (conjugated) in the same way.  Remove the ending from the infinitive and replace it with one of the endings shown in bold type (depending on who is performing the action).  The pronouns shown in brackets will only be required if you wish to add emphasis to what you are saying, or if there is the potential for any misunderstanding as to who you may be talking about.

Pronunciación

In English the stop consonants [p, t, k] are usually pronounced with some aspiration, that is, accompanied by a puff of air. The aspiration disappears only when [p, t, k] follow the sound [s]. Compare the sounds of [p, t, k] in the following pairs of English words:

port   sport   tart    start    care   scare

In Spanish the [p, t, k] sounds are never aspirated. They always sound like the English [p, t, k] that follow [s].

                                               padre, papa, patata, tanto, total, tiempo, corto, claro, poco, parte
