Dream First: Mind Wander

Dear Me – Step 1

Begin by daydreaming, an underrated skill.

Before you write, take a walk by yourself or stare out a window without doing anything else. After wandering, respond to the prompt in your Process Notebook.


Suggested Time for Walk:  15 minutes

Suggested Time for Prompt: 5 minutes

This mind-wandering break can be short. Five minutes for a walk is fine. So is an hour. Just don’t listen to music or look at your phone while wandering.

What are five things you thought about when your mind wandered?

You can make a list or write more freely about what came up on your mind-wandering break. Be specific rather than abstract or judgmental.
