Think Again: Your Focus?

Dear Me – Step 4

In this final activity, reflect on how to focus your letter.

You can also revise your letter, but you don’t have to for this starting lesson. If you do revise your letter, be sure to include the revision in your Process Notebook.

Suggested Time for Activity: 15 minutes

Optional Revision: 20 minutes or more

Read your “Dear Me” letter aloud, then consider what you like and what to add or cut. Notebook prompts to guide you appear at the bottom of this page.

Q. Am I finished with the lesson now?

Evaluate your writing goals.

When you’ve completed “Think Again,” you’re done with the four main steps. Bravo! Spend more time on the optional activities, if you wish, but you’re almost there.

The only thing left to do is to your self-evaluation. Ask yourself about the progress made on your goals. Once you’ve responded, you’re finished with the lesson.

Prompts for Reflecting

Respond to one or more of these prompts in your notebook:

  • What was the focus of your Vision Share?
  • How did the person (or people) you shared it with respond?
  • What surprised you about the writing you did?
  • What else can you add to help convey what you mean?
  • What can you cut from the letter to clarify its focus?
