17 Absolute superlatives

The absolute superlative is formed by adding the ending –ísimo to the adjective, meaning very or extremely.

Adjectives ending in:	How to form:	Examples
a vowel	– o + ísimo	Interesante →interesantísimo guapo →guapísimo
a consonant	+ ísimo	azul → azulísimo fácil → facilísimo
– co	– quísimo	rico → riquísimo
– go	– guísimo	largo → larguísimo
– zo	– císimo	feliz → felicísimo
– ble	– bilísimo	agradable →agradabilísimo

Excepción: pobre → paupérisimo; antiguo → antiquísimo;

Remember that there is always an accent over –ísimo. The ending must agree in number and gender with the noun it modifies:

–ísimo,–ísima,–ísimos,–ísimas.

You can also use prefixes such as super– or extra– to form the familiar absolute superlative.
