Life pertains to existence. It makes people think, act, assess, and develop over time. What sets people apart from inorganic matter is life. Many truly enjoy having free will in life. Others lack this right, such as slaves and prisoners. But life is more than just getting by on your own in society. Certainly, it goes far beyond that. Therefore, life quality is really important. Living a meaningful life should be the ultimate goal above all else. One that enables us to have a closer connection with ourselves is a meaningful existence (Toppr). Life is not easy, some hurdles would make us give up, and however, life is also filled with happiness and positivity. You made a mistake, but the important part is you learned from it. Every person has different stories, these stories have lessons and motivations to live.

LIFE MAP

Have you heard of life mapping?

Listing the most important moments in your life from the time of your birth to the present is known as life mapping. To avoid getting stuck attempting to recall the sequence in which things happened in your life, you can arrange it either chronologically or randomly. A life map can also be used for exploring future goals, strategies, and plans.

How to create a life map?

In creating a life map, you should think about the impactful event of your life (Mwangi 2022). Reminiscing events of your life makes you realize the impact of it in your present life. First, making a life map allows you to see yourself from a third person’s point of view. In good situations you can pat yourself for doing great things, in bad situations, you can bash yourself for doing such things and with that you can ponder on how to stop yourself from making the same mistake again.

Second, you may have changed in ways that no longer benefit you as a result of some positive or negative circumstances. For example, you had to make things happen to you since you had to grow up and take on greater responsibilities after things happened to you when you were younger. Their situations should be considered also as you need to look over the bigger picture. If you think you did your best, but the result says otherwise, maybe you need to change the system of your habit.

Lastly, life mapping will get you back on track, it allows you to trace the things you enjoyed in the past and improve your perspective in life. Eradicate the negative experience and learn from it. The life map would help you change your perspective about yourself as it gives you the track of what results you aim for yourself.

WRITING BASIC INFORMATION THROUGH “SLAM BOOK”

Knowing yourself is like an adventure, it’s about discovering the real you and knowing yourself which helps you to improve yourself (Campbell 2022). Moreover, according to Global India, a self-introduction enables others to learn about your identity, character, and other pertinent details. A strong self-introduction should highlight every side of the individual because it leaves a good impression on others and fosters future relationships. Learning to write these basic information is a practice for you to fill out information in work you want to apply, make friends and connect to people. Moreover, through the use of “Slam book” connecting to friends or making friends can be fun. According to Posner, Slam books combine traditional passing notes with the idea of a diary. These are books that individuals typically share among friends or acquaintances to get to know one another better.

How do we know what information we need to provide about our life or ourselves? There are questions that often asked, through these questions you will know what information you should give. The common questions you will encounter are:

                   What is your name?
                       How old are you?
                       Where do you live?
                       When is your birthday?
                       What are your hobby/hobbies?
                       What is your favorite color?
                       What is your favorite food?
                       Who are your parents?
                       Who are your siblings?

Key Takeaways

In the lessons that were discussed you understand that life refers to existence. In the first lesson you learned that identifying important life events—either chronologically or at random—allows you to reflect on the past and make plans for the future. This process is known as life mapping. Making a life map requires thinking back on significant events in one’s life, observing oneself from the outside, and appreciating the influence of both good and bad experiences. It serves as a self-reflection and a changing habit, which leads to personal growth and helps you understand how past experiences impact your current life. Moreover, making a brief self-introduction in relationship building, self-discovery, and making a good first impression. Common questions about name, age, interests, and family history can be used as a starting point for self-introduction and self-improvement. Lastly, in order to achieve goal-oriented behavior, change bad habits, and have the confidence to take on obstacles, motivation is essential in life. It gives one direction and motivation to reach both professional and personal wants and needs.
