In this scholarly article, the author examines ethical leadership through deontological and consequentialist perspectives and seeks to reconcile the two. The author argues that “society and stakeholders expect managers to do what is right, fair and just. It is in organisations’ and managers’ best interests to be ethical.” (Jamnik) A set of practical questions are proposed incorporating both deontological and consequentialist perspectives, to help leaders as an “ethics check” when trying to make an ethical decision. (Jamnik)
