Inequity and Ethics in Healthcare and Research

Research ethics face a complex challenge when dealing with marginalized communities burdened by historical trauma and inequity. The pain of past exploitation and a history of being treated unequally can lead to deep suspicion and a reluctance to participate in research. Ethical researchers must be especially sensitive. This means obtaining informed consent with full transparency, acknowledging past wrongs, and prioritizing the community’s well-being over research goals.
