Part 1: Previewing Process
Previewing is a reading strategy that helps readers prepare for a reading. The previewing process will help you to get a sense of what the reading contains.

To get started on this project, you will be asked to preview articles about the subject of humor. To complete previewing, use the links to the articles below and follow these steps.
- Read the title of the piece.
- Read information about the author (if included).
- Look at the images included in the article.
- Read the first paragraph.

After previewing the humor articles, choose two that you will use for this project. Answer the following previewing questions:
- What is the first article you have selected? (Include the title and the author.)
- Look at the title. What do you already know about the topic?
- Make a prediction about the article. What do you think the article will describe? What clues help you predict the important parts of the article?
- What question(s) do you want answered by the reading?
- What is the second article you have selected? (Include the title and the author.)
- Look at the title. What do you already know about the topic?
- Make a prediction about the article. What do you think the article will describe? What clues help you predict the important parts of the article?
- What question(s) do you want answered by the reading?
